Training Day One: Tour, Training, infant and child cpr/first aid

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5 – 9:00-5:00 – BRING YOUR LAPTOP

9:00-9:30 Tour of Aunty’s Child Care (4801 Cooke Street – parking across the street)

9:45-12:00 Training on Culturally Informed Practice in Early Childhood – 2 hour class (Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd – 1325 N 45th Av East) 

12:00-12:30 – Subway lunch provided

12:30-1:00 Empower to Educate – Learn about opportunities for classes & scholarships

1:00-5:00 Infant & Child CPR/FA – obtain certification 

TRAINING DAY TWO

THURSDAY, JUNE 6 – 9:00-2:00 –  BRING YOUR LAPTOP

Location – TBD

9:00-9:30 Empower to Educate – Set up a DEVELOP account and learn about opportunities for classes & scholarships

9:30-12:00 Trainings – Required Child Care classes – SUIDS and AHT

12:00-12:30 Subway lunch provided

12:30 – 2:00 “Life in a Child Care Center,” Requirements in Rule 3, and Expectations as a staff member

Training information

The format for our training sessions provides a variety of experiences, including some of the following: 

  • An inside look at a Child Care Center with a narrated tour (1 hour)
  • Child Development class (2 hours)
  • Essential Components for Supervision in Child Care Centers (2 hours)
  • Requirements for Rule 3 in Child Care Centers
  • Infant and Child CPR and First Aid class (4 hours)
  • Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Syndrome class (1 hour)
  •  Abusive Head Trauma class (1 hour)
  • Health and Safety Pre-Service for Centers (4 hours)
  • Learn about scholarships, educational opportunities, and career advancement (1/2 hour)

Periodically, evening classes may be held. These will be Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00pm-9:00pm.
